'''Candy''' is a recurring supporting character from the ''[[Portal: Donkey Kong|Donkey Kong]]'' games. She is the girlfriend of [[Donkey Kong]] and a music enthusiast.

=Background=

Candy Kong first appeared in ''[[Donkey Kong Country]]'', where she ran a series of save stations (in the original version) or dance studios (in the GBA remake) across [[Donkey Kong Island]]. In the GBA version, Candy gave dancing lessons to DK and [[Diddy Kong]] whenever they stopped by, to give them a break from their adventure. Additionally in the GBA version of ''[[Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest]]'', Candy acted as [[Swanky Kong|Swanky Kong's]] assistant in his series of Bonus Bonanza minigames as they toured [[Crocodile Isle]]. Candy also briefly appeared in the GBA remake of  ''[[Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie's Double Trouble]]'', where she was being held hostage along with most of the other Kongs until Dixie and [[Kiddy Kong|Kiddy]] saved them in one of [[Funky Kong|Funky's]] missions.

Candy played a larger role in ''[[Donkey Kong 64]]'', where she ran a series of music stores around Donkey Kong Island. She sold instruments to each of the Kongs when they visited, and later sold them upgrades for the instruments. Candy also played a role in the game's finale, where she distracted [[K. Rool]] with flirtatious poses so that Funky could sneak up on him and send him flying.

Her appearances since then have been scarce. In ''[[DK: King of Swing]]'', she was only seen in crowd scenes. In ''[[DK: Jungle Climber]]'', she was seen accompanying the other Kongs in their vacation to [[Sun Sun Island]] and also ran a Challenge mode. In ''[[Donkey Kong Barrel Blast]]'', she similarly ran a challenge mode called Candy's Challenges.

*In the ''[[Portal: Super Smash Bros.|Super Smash Bros.]]'' series, Candy has been represented as a trophy in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'' and ''[[Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U]]'', and as an Advanced Support [[Spirit]] (using her model from ''Jungle Climber'') in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'. As a Spirit, her Support effect was to raise a player fighter's stats when they were in critical condition. When fought in a Spirit battle, Candy's Spirit possessed [[Third Party Characters in Nintendo Games#Bayonetta|Bayonetta]] in a match filled with [[Banana|Banana Guns]]. In the game's Adventure Mode, Candy's Spirit was fought by her save station in an area that was a recreation of the first world from ''Donkey Kong Country''.

*Candy Kong appeared as a supporting character in the computer-animated ''Donkey Kong Country'' show. She had a significantly altered appearance and was depicted as being Donkey Kong's impatient girlfriend, constantly getting mad at Donkey Kong for being late for their dates. She worked at a barrel factory in this incarnation, where her boss Bluster Kong made various passes at her.

*Candy was shown as a playable character in one of the builds for the canceled game ''Diddy Kong Pilot''.

=Trivia=

*She is not in the original versions of ''Donkey Kong Country 2'' or ''3'', and was only added in for the Game Boy Advance remakes. She is the only Kong from the original game whose appearances were initially restrained to the first installments of both trilogies, and she is also the only Kong from the first ''Donkey Kong Country'' to have not returned in ''[[Donkey Kong Country Returns]]'' or ''[[Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze|Tropical Freeze]]''.
*Despite having official artwork of her in ''King of Swing'', she has no real purpose in the actual game.
*Her trophy descriptions in the ''Super Smash Bros.'' games reference the uncertainty of her relationship status. In her ''Brawl'' trophy, it is said that the idea of her being Donkey Kong's girlfriend is a rumor that no one is sure is true. In her trophy description from the 3DS/Wii U game, it is instead said that both Donkey Kong and Funky have crushes on her.
*In ''[[Super Mario Odyssey]]'', [[Metro Kingdom|New Donk City]] is filled with references to different ''Donkey Kong'' characters, including one establishment called Candy Cafe. It is unknown if the real Candy Kong is involved in it.
