'''Spearow''' is a small bird Pokémon that was introduced in the first generation Pokémon games. Its evolved form is [[Fearow]].

=Information=

Spearow is inept at flying high due to its short wings, which it must flap at high speeds to stay airborne. However, it can fly around very fast to defend its territory, which it is very protective of. Spearow has a loud high-pitched cry which can be heard from half a mile away, and the cry echoing is a sign that they are warning each other of danger. It seeks food by flapping its wings at tall grass to flush out insects, which it proceeds to eat with its stubby break.

It is unusually tough for a Pokémon of its frail stature, which it owes to abilities such as Mirror Move. Spearow evolves into Fearow at Level 20.

In ''[[Pokémon: Red, Green and Blue Versions|Red, Blue]]'', ''[[Pokémon: FireRed and LeafGreen Versions|FireRed and LeafGreen]]'', Spearow commonly appears at Routes 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 22 and 23. In ''[[Pokémon: Yellow Version|Yellow]]'', it only appears at Routes 3, 4, 9, 16, 18 and 22. In ''FireRed'' and ''LeafGreen'', Spearow are also found at Treasure Beach, Mt. Ember, Cape Brink, Ruin Valley, Water Path and Canyon Entrance.

In ''[[Pokémon: Gold and Silver Versions|Gold, Silver]]'', ''[[Pokémon: Crystal Version|Crystal]]'', ''[[Pokémon: HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions|HeartGold and SoulSilver]]'', Spearow commonly appear at Routes 3, 4, 7, 10, 9, 10, 22, 33 and 46 as well as being found in headbutted trees. A Spearow holding mail is also given to the player by an NPC guard stationed between Goldenrod City and Route 35 (known as Randy in the second generation games but Webster in '"HeartGold''/''SoulSilver''). It is initially to deliver mail to his friend, but the player is allowed to keep the Pokémon afterwards. In ''HeartGold''/''SoulSilver'', Spearow also appeared at the Wetland area of the Safari Zone. Spearow could also be obtained through the [[Pokéwalker]] on the Noisy Forest route, from which it could be transferred to ''HeartGold''/''SoulSilver''. 

In ''[[Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl Versions]]'', Spearow appears at Routes 225 and 226, while in ''[[Pokémon: Platinum Version|Platinum]]'' it only shows up at Route 225.

Spearow commonly appears throughout ''[[Pokémon Pinball]]'' in areas such as Viridian City, Pewter City, Mt. Moon, Vermilion City Seaside and Streets, Rock Mountain, Cycling Road and Indigo Plateau. It also appears in ''[[Pokémon Stadium]]'', ''[[Pokémon Stadium 2]]'' and ''[[Pokémon Colosseum]]''. In ''[[Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness]]'', a shadow Spearow could be snagged from an enemy at Phenac City. Once purified, this Spearow could be traded to any of the third generation color versions.

In ''[[Pokémon Trozei!]]'', Spearow could be found at Endless Level 49, Endless Level 80, Forever Level 8 and Mr. Who's Den. In ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams]]'', Spearow could be found on the first four floors of Mt. Steel, the fourth through ninth floors of Pitfall Valley and the nineth through thirteenth basement floors of Remains Island. In ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness and Time]]'', Spearow appeared at the first thirteen basement floors of Mystifying Jungle and the the first twenty-nine basement floors of Mystery Forest.

They also appear at Kisara Plains in ''[[Pokémon Ranger]]'' and at Union Road and Plain Cliffs in ''[[Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia]]''. In ''[[Pokémon Rumble]]'', Spearow could be found at Rumble Prairie. In ''[[PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure]]'', it was found at the Meadow Zone. Spearow also appeared in ''[[Pokémon Rumble Blast]]'' at Seabreeze Trail and Everspring Valley.

==Other Media==

*Spearow were featured as the antagonists in the first episode of the Pokémon anime, where Ash angered one by throwing a rock in it, which resulted in a whole flock pursuing and attacking Ash until [[Pikachu]]'s electricity knocked them out. The same flock appeared again in the last episode of the Kanto series, with its leader having evolved into a Fearow, but this time the day was saved by Ash's newly-evolved [[Pidgeot]]. Aside from that, Spearow made several more primarily minor appearances throughout the series, with flocks of Spearow occasionally being used as antagonists.
*In the ''Pokémon Adventures'' manga, Professor Oak had a Spearow that he used to take down Green's fully evolved [[Blastoise]] at the end of the ''Red''/''Blue''/''Green'' arc, when he was fighting in  the tournament under the alias of Dr. O. This Spearow evolved into a Fearow by the time of the ''FireRed''/''LeafGreen'' arc.
