Delibird make their nests at the edge sharp cliffs and always carry food bundled up in their tails. It usually spends all day carrying this food to its waiting chicks. Delibird will still freely share their food with travelers lost in the mountains, and it is said that it is thanks to a Delibird's food that one explorer was able to climb Mount Everest. Delibird will also throw food at its opponents if attacked.

*In the Pokémon anime, a Delibird was first featured in one of the specials as a Pokémon of Santa Claus that delivered presents for him. A Delbird that did deliveries for Team Rocket also started appearing in the Johto series, where it initially followed Jessie and James around until they could pay off a debt, although they shook it off when they left Hoenn. That Delibird has since made a few other smaller appearances.

*In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Delibird was featured as one of Pryce's main Pokémon during the Gold/Silver/Crystal arc, and it was even able to stand up against Ho-Oh. It eventually lost to Gold's Politoed once it used Perish Song.

Trivia
*Its name is simply a shortened version of "delivery bird".

*Delibird is modeled to evoke the image of Santa Claus.
