Species Alien
Debut DK: Jungle Climber

Xananab is an alien banana who appears in DK: Jungle Climber. He hails from the planet Plantaen.

Background[edit]

While visiting Earth, Xananab was attacked by K. Rool and the Kremling gang, who proceeded to steal all of of Xananab's portal devices and the immensely powerful Crystal Bananas. Knowing the power of these devices, he boarded his banana-shaped spaceship and prepared to go after the Kremlings.

However, the sight of his ship attracted the attention of Cranky Kong who along with the other Kongs, was relaxing on Sun Sun Island beach. So Cranky set out with Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong to find the strange sight. When Xananab saw the three Kongs, he mistook them for K. Rool's minions and set his ship to attack them. Despite his superior technology, Donkey and Diddy were able to defeat his spaceship.

Once Xananab met the Kongs, they realized the misunderstanding that occurred. Because Xananab's ship had been destroyed, there was no way for him to track down K. Rool himself. The Kongs volunteered their help and set off with the alien to stop K. Rool. Their quest took them through several islands, where K. Rool used up his Crystal Bananas on his Kremlings to make them more powerful in order to stop the Kongs. Donkey Kong was able to defeat each one and recover each Crystal Banana in turn.

They eventually chased K. Rool to his King Kruiser IV. Although they defeated the last of his minions, K. Rool made a desperate escape through a wormhole that led to Xananab's homeworld of Plantaen. In one final battle, Donkey and Diddy faced K. Rool in his giant form that was amplified by the Crystal Bananas. After K. Rool's defeat, Xananab was reunited with his people and returned the Crystal Bananas to their rightful place. He then treated the Kongs to a feast of (normal) bananas before they returned home.

Trivia[edit]

  • His name is 'banana' backwards, plus the letter 'X'.
  • He appeared as both a trophy and sticker in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
  • Although not present in the Japanese version, Xananab's speech pattern plays on the old name game that goes "banana fana bo bana". Whenever he talks, this is constantly inserted into his speech.
