Wizpig is the antagonist of Diddy Kong Racing. He is a pig-like alien who is a giant compared to the cast of the game and has a love for winning races. He possesses great magical powers and will do anything within his power to win.

Background

Wizpig started on his home planet, which he turned into the amusement park known as Future Fun Land. He soon became bored with this and started wandering the galaxy. Wizpig made his way through various planets, taking them over and continuously racing and cheating to win, until he would get bored again and move on to another planet.

This pattern eventually brought Wizpig to take over Timber's Island, a whole island full of racers, in Diddy Kong Racing. He imprisoned most of the island's inhabitants, took over the mountain and kicked out Taj the genie. He also hypnotized four of the island's best racers into becoming his lieutenants. He gave each underling a quarter of the Wizpig Amulet, which when united would open the path to his lair. Wizpig also turned Drumstick into a frog after he challenged Wizpig to a fair race.

Eventually, the Wizpig Amulet was assembled by a crew of young racers led by Diddy Kong and Timber. They chose their best racer to race Wizpig through a canyon. In this first race, Wizpig ran on foot and flew for some distances. After being defeated a first time, he retreated in his spaceship to Future Fun Land, but the other racers followed him there. He only allowed the racers to challenge him to a rematch after they completed all the courses once and then completed them again with the Silver Coin Challenge.

Wizpig rode a rocket in the final race. After losing again, his rocket veered offcourse and crashed into a planetoid. His spaceship was later seen flying through the sky in the credits, hinting at a possible return.

In the remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS, Wizpig could be unlocked as a playable racer by completing Adventure Mode 2. However, this was a scaled-down version of Wizpig for the purpose of fitting into game's vehicles. His stats, which were identical to Taj's, gave him the highest speed level (which was only shared by T.T.) but with the lowest acceleration and handling.

Trivia

• His name is a simple combination of the words "wizard" (due to his powers) and "pig".
• He is somewhat similar to Tatanga in that both are alien invaders with hypnotic powers who make aburpt appearances.
• Wizpig might have been planned to appear in either Donkey Kong Racing or Diddy Kong Pilot prior to the cancellation of both games, especially since Diddy Kong Racing's ending teased Wizpig's return and included a "To Be Continued...".
