Tetris & Dr. Mario was a game released for the Super Nintendo that combined the two most popular puzzle games on Nintendo's systems at the time, Tetris and Dr. Mario. It upgraded the graphics and sound and added a new Mixed Match mode.

Gameplay[edit]

Tetris[edit]

In Tetris, players are given tetrominoes of several different varieties. The player must arrange them to make a solid line. Each time a line is completed, that row disappears. In Type A, the player can keep playing as long as the tetominoes keep falling. For Type B, the goal is to eliminate a set number of lines.

Dr. Mario[edit]

Similar to Tetris, Dr. Mario tosses several vitamins into a jar that takes up most of the screen. The jar is filled with viruses, each being one of three colors (red, blue or yellow). Each vitamin also has two colored segments. The point is to align and move the vitamins as they fall so that four vitamins and viruses of the same color are aligned, destroying all four. The game advances to the next level when all viruses are destroyed.

Mixed Match[edit]

Mixed Match is a special mode for multiplayer matches. It is three rounds alternating between the two games. The screen is split for each player and rather than wait for both players to finish, the next round starts immediately after the player finishes so one person can be in the middle of the second round, while the other is still playing the first. The first round is Type B Tetris, the second round is a normal game of Dr. Mario, and the final round is Type A Tetris. Each individual match can be customized to suit the players skill levels. Because Type A Tetris doesn't have a clear goal, instead it will go on until the time limit runs out, which can also be set by the players.
