Spade is a F-Zero racer as well as an accomplished magician.

Background

A circus performer and a highly skilled magician, Spade is an unusual man who has devoted his life to the entertainment of others. It's unknown if he's human or not, as he claims that at birth he was put inside a globe (which might explain the spinning orb in place of his abdomen). No one knows what he looks like, not even his colleagues at the circus he works at. One of his favorite tricks is sawing people in half.

When the circus fell into financial difficulty, he joined the F-Zero races to use the prize money to save his circus (but not before tripling the results in his own way). However his driving style is rather unusual and he's been known to pull off amazing techniques, though most considered extremely risky. Even more curious is how fickle in races he is, as he will often not take the race seriously or simply drop out. Because of this, he's yet to develop a very good name for himself.

The Magic Seagull was build by Spade and his friends at the circus during their downtime. It boasts a streamlined design that allows it to get maximum boost power, but the downside is that its width makes it a difficult machine to maneuver around curves. Though it has a solid body, it lacks anything resembling a door - which means in the event of an explosion, Spade would go with it.

Trivia

• Although introduced in F-Zero AX, he can be unlocked in F-Zero GX by beating every chapter in Story Mode on Very Hard difficulty.
• Spade is the only character that cannot be viewed inside the cockpit of their vehicle in the F-Zero AX series. The only way he can be seen actually driving is by creating a custom machine and choosing him as the pilot.
