Regirock is an ancient legendary rock Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It forms a legendary trio with Regice and Registeel, and the three are usually found only by performing certain specific instructions. Regigigas was later introduced in the fourth generation as their leader (and probable ancestor).

Information[edit]

Regigigas is said to have created the other three Regis as miniature duplicates of itself. Regirock seems to have been the one made from rocks or clay. They were sealed away by people (specifically the ancient people of Hoenn) long ago, as the people feared "it". Regirock's body is made up of various different rocks, and if its body is damaged, it will seek out nearby rocks to repair itself. One study was startled by the discovery that Regirock's rocks all came from different locations. The same rocks that formed their bodies have been found in ground layers around the world.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Versions, Regirock had been sealed within the Desert Ruins at Route 211. It opened only when the player brought a Wailord and Relicanth to the Sealed Chamber, which unsealed the three Regi- Pokémon. In Platinum, it was found at the Rock Peak Ruins at Route 228, but it would only appear when the player had an event Regigigas with them. Regirock appeared from the wall after solving a puzzle involving the dots on the head and could be rebattled multiple times as long as the player had the Regigigas until captured.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, Regirock was found at the Ruins. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found from Random Agent Cards and Mr. Who's Den. in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it was a boss at the fifteenth floor of Buried Relic and surrendered the Rock Part upon defeat. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at the Sekra Mountain Range. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it was the boss of Aegis Cave's Rock Chamber and could not be recruited. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Vien Forest.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, the three Regis were first featured in ninth movie as the guardians of the Tree of Beginning. Brandon was also shown to own all three of them in the regular series and used them in episodes of both the Battle Frontier and Sinnoh series.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, the three Regis were first featured in the Ruby/Sapphire arc where Steven Stone worked with the Elite Four to obtain them in hopes of calming Kyogre and Groudon's battle. Sidney woke Regirock with his Zangoose and controlled it along with Drake during the battle. The three Regis fled afterwards and were weakened enough that Brandon was able to capture them, subsequently being featured as his team during the Emerald arc.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a combination of "regius" (which is Latin for "royal" and used in all of the related legendary Pokémon) with "rock" (due to its composition).
