Mr. EAD is a pilot in the F-Zero series that has the appearance of an extremely large, mustached man.

Background

The android Mr. EAD was designed by a mysterious development group known as EAD. They designed him to be flawless and has undergone many rigorous training protocols. This has included combat training, spy activities, and college exams. Because he is nearly invincible, there's little to nothing that can stop him except for his own IQ and AI programming.

His creators entered him into the F-Zero Grand Prix of 2670 as his final testing phase to see if his programming was finally complete. When Captain Falcon instead won the Grand Prix, Mr. EAD was put into further training. He was entered into the Grand Prix the next year. His creators believe that if his capabilities function as calculated, nothing should keep him from winning - which will signify the creation of a perfect android.

Mr. EAD's F-Zero GX movie, Mr. EAD's Baking Class, shows him making a cake with many other EAD androids. They all then eat the cake. The movie ends with Mr. EAD having frosting all over his face.

The Great Star is a machine designed by Shiggs Mapone, supposedly the head of the EAD group. The Great Star was designed for the single purpose of winning and for that reason it has excellent boost abilities. However the grip of the machine is poor and the body extremely weak. The weak body is likely because it was designed for an invulnerable android, meaning that very little was needed to keep Mr. EAD safe from harm.

• In the Super Smash Bros. series, he has been represented in the form of a trophy and sticker in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and as an Advanced-rank Support Spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. His Spirit's Support effect was to boost the power of tackling and dashing attacks while slightly increasing the speed of moves. When fought in a Spirit battle, Mr. EAD's Spirit would possess a giant Wario and fight alongside ROB, both of whom specialized in using dashing attacks.

• Mr. EAD has a supporting role in the F-Zero GP Legend anime, in which he was shown as part of the Mobile Task Force.

Trivia

• Mr. EAD is a mish-mash of references to the Mario series (the Great Star, his mustache, and his belt), Nintendo EAD (his creators), and Shigeru Miyamoto (Shiggs Mapone).
• His F-Zero GX ending depicts him eating cake alongside dozens of other Mr. EADs, suggesting that he might be one of a series of androids.
