Mario Kart Arcade GP is an arcade game based on the Mario Kart series. It runs on one of Nintendo's Triforce arcade machines.

Gameplay[edit]

Like most arcade racers, the game is controlled with a wheel controller and has an attached seat. The game has 24 different courses, divided into six cups, and the player can choose between Grand Prix, Time Trial or VS modes. The playable characters include the main eight Mario Kart racers from Mario Kart 64, and three guest characters from Namco'sPac-Man series (Pac-Man, Ms. Pac Man and Blinky). The game also utilizes rewritable memory cards and a special Nam-Cam which will take a picture of the player's face for use in representing the player's character in the game.

Through the game's VS mode, up to four players could play together on separate arcade cabinets.

Playable Characters[edit]

Legacy[edit]

This game ended up being the first in an arcade-based subseries for the Mario Kart games. It was also notable as being the first Mario Kart game to feature playable guest characters from other series.

Sequels[edit]

The next game in the Mario Kart series was Mario Kart DS. This game would later receive a direct sequel in the form of Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 in 2007.
