Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games is a sports that was released for the Wii and Nintendo 3DS. The third of the Olympics-based crossover games featuring Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, this game is an official tie-in of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. This installment marks the last Mario & Sonic game released on the Wii and the first one released on the 3DS.

Gameplay[edit]

This installment features similar gameplay to previous installments, in allowing players to play as various characters from the Mario and Sonic series to compete in various Olympic events. This game featured most of the Olympic events from previous games, while adding several new ones: soccer, badminton and equestrian. The same playable cast from the previous game returns, and it supports multiplayer for up to four players.

As with the previous installment, the handheld version of the game featured a Story mode in which the characters work together to foil an evil plot by the team of Bowser and Dr. Eggman.

It was followed by Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games for the Wii U in 2013, which would be the only Mario & Sonic game to have only one version.
