Liepard is a big cat Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. It is the sole evolved form of Purrloin.

Information[edit]

A Purrloin evolves into Liepard at Level 20. They are mysterious Pokémon that will appear and vanish unexpectedly. Many trainers are drawn to their beautiful fur. In battle, Liepard usually choose to stealthily sneak up on their target and attack it from behind before it has a chance to react.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

Liepard could uncommonly be found in Pokémon: Black and White Versions at Routes 5, 9 and 16 and the Dreamyard (dark grass only).

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Liepard was found at the forest areas of the Challenger's Ground and World Axle's first basement floor.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, Liepard was supposed to debut in a two-part episode introducing Team Plasma as one of the team's Pokémon, but the episode was shelved indefinitely without being aired due to the 2011 tsunami in Japan. Since then, Liepard was shown in a minor part in the fourteenth movie.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a wild Liepard was first shown in the beginning of one Black/White chapter in which Black's Tepig was able to take one down with ease in the Dreamyard as a result of training.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name is a pun on "leopard" combined with "lie" (which refers to the deceptive nature of cats and Dark-type Pokémon that is exhibited within this Pokémon). The Pokémon itself is likely based on the leopard cat, a type of wildcat which has traits to both house cats and leopards.
