Kiddy Kong is a powerful ape toddler who is featured as a playable sidekick character in Donkey Kong Country 3 and its Donkey Kong Land counterpart.

Background

Kiddy originally appeared in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie's Double Trouble. At the beginning of the game, he was being watched over by Funky Kong and chewed a hole in one of his tires. When Dixie Kong arrived in her search for the missing Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, Kiddy joined her for the adventure. Kiddy's great strength was helpful against some of the stronger enemies among the Kremling forces, and he was able to open hidden passageways if Dixie dropped him on cracked surfaces. Ultimately, Dixie and Kiddy were successful in defeating K. Rool and saving the Banana Bird race along with Donkey and Diddy.

Dixie and Kiddy went on a second adventure in Donkey Kong Land III, when they competed with K. Rool in the race to find the legendary Lost World. Dixie and Kiddy were able to beat K. Rool once again. Kiddy has not appeared since.

• In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dixie's Spirit can be enhanced into a Legend-rank Spirit of Dixie and Kiddy, represented by art from Donkey Kong Country 3. The Spirit comes with the added effect of increasing the power of thrown items.

Canceled Appearances

• Kiddy was planned to return in Donkey Kong Racing until the game's cancellation.

Trivia

• The Japanese version called him Dinky Kong, most likely to to uphold the tradition of main Donkey Kong characters having the same initials: DK.
• He is the only playable Kong from the Rareware games to not have made any kind of return in any later games.
• He is mentioned in one of Dixie's notes in Donkey Konga 2, where Dixie mentions his first time playing the bongo drums. The English localization of the game erroneously referred to him as Dinky, his Japanese name.
