Gomar and Shioh are pilots in the F-Zero series that are never seen apart.

Background[edit]

Hailing from the planet Huckmine, the Furikake people are known for the unusual custom of pairing for life. As soon as they emerge from their seeds pods (which may be dormant for centuries), they find a partner and pair up with that individual and do not leave them until they both find mates to marry and as a result have new partners. Gomar and Shioh are two such examples of this. Gomar is the short one who boasts an impressive intellect, whereas Shioh is tall and boasts a tall physique. Both are very envious of the others abilities, but get along well. When one begins to say something, the other will finish his sentence.

Although they perform as one person, the F-Zero committee at first denied their entry due to considering them as two individuals. However, thanks to the EAD foundation their entry was put up to vote and they were allowed to enter by a 9 to 8 vote. They have since worked together in the Twin Noritta. Despite the presence of two cockpits, they drive together in perfect synch. However their career in the F-Zero GP may soon be ending, as they are due to married the next year, which will mean both will have new partners for life.

Twin Noritta[edit]

Twin Noritta.jpg
  • Number: 22
  • Creator: Onigiri Drive Yard Co.
  • Engine: KOM-E246x2
  • Weight: 780 kg
  • Body: E
  • Boost: A
  • Grip: C

The Twin Noritta is unusual not only for having two cockpits, but also being incredibly light in spite of this. The reason is due to the machine being made of a special metal unique to Gomar and Shioh's home world of Huckmine. This makes the vessel light, but also not as durable as other machines. As a result, their machine is best when it can stay ahead of other racers and avoid being pushed into walls.

Trivia[edit]

  • If selected as the pilots of a custom machine, Gomar has to sit in Shioh's lap while driving. They can be seen this way in the cockpit.
  • Their Twin Noritta is the lightest machine registered in the F-Zero Gran Prix, despite the fact that it's built to hold two.
  • Gomar and Shioh appear as a collectible sticker in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
