King Bowser is the arch-foe of Mario that made his debut in Super Mario Bros.. The turtle terror has appeared in the majority of Mario's adventures, usually as the final boss of the game. He has also appeared in multiple games as a playable character, most notably sports games. In both Super Mario RPG and Super Paper Mario, Bowser was a playable main character.

He's the king of the koopas and has eight children that have appeared alongside him in other games. Almost all of his dastardly schemes involve kidnapping the princess so he can take over the Mushroom Kingdom at long last.
