Fryguy is a large, living creature of fire with a face and a boss from Super Mario Bros. 2.

Background[edit]

Fryguy was apparently created by Wart's Nightmare Machine and was originally, seemingly nothing more than a mask. Fryguy was the boss of World 4-3 in Super Mario Bros. 2, which is ironic considering that it is an icy environment.

Fryguy attacks players by leaping around his chamber rapidly, releasing blasts of fire and trying to burn anyone who approaches him. In order to injure Fryguy, players would have to throw Mushroom Blocks at him. After being hit three times with a Mushroom Block, Fryguy will split into several miniature version of himself, which must be hit with Mushroom Blocks to defeat.

Later Games[edit]

A creature with a somewhat similar appearance to Fryguy appears as an obstacle in Bowser's Castle in Mario Hoops 3-on-3. Additionally, the creature depicted on the painting of Lethal Lava Land in Super Mario 64 bears some minor resemblance to Fryguy.

Other Appearances[edit]

  • Fryguy made sporadic appearances in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, where he was portrayed as a minion of King Koopa.
  • In Nintendo Comics System, Fryguy was portrayed as a species instead of an individual character, and these Fryguys were shown to be formed from Toads who were covered in flames or lava.
