|The Faron Woods as seen in Skyward Sword.|
|Debut||The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess|
In this game, this province was overseen by the Water Dragon Faron and was home to the Kikwi tribe. It is also said that humans once lived at the forest in harmony. Faron was a healthy forest with water that sustained a large amounts of animal and plant life. In addition to trees, the forest was filled with large mushrooms, and the its centerpiece was a giant tree that was known as the Great Tree. There was also a deeper part of the forest which held Skyview Temple. Faron also had a river running on southward into Lake Floria. Lake Floria is where Faron and the Parella Tribe resided. The Ancient Cisten, which held one of the Sacred Flames, was also hidden behind a waterfall there. To the west were the Sealed Grounds and Sealed Temple, formerly known as the Realm of Hylia and Hylian Temple respectively, where the Demon King Demise was sealed away.
Over the course of the game, the forest was infested by monsters working for Ghirahim. This ultimately drove Faron to flood the forest in order to eliminate the remnants of the monster forces, until she was eventually convinced to pull back the flood. At the Sealed Grounds, Impa watched over the seal, and Link (as well as eventually Groose) continually prevented Demise from escaping. At the end, Link's wish on the Triforce caused the Isle of Goddess to descend from Skyloft into the Sealed Grounds, which seems to be its original location, and this destroyed Demise. The Goron archeologist also explored the area throughout the game to research the local Goddess Cubes and Goddess Walls.
In this game, the forest was much emptier and was the only part of the Faron Province. The only inhabitants were Coro, who sold lantern oil while holding keys leading deeper into the forest, and his pet bird Trill. A tribe of monkeys also made their home there. The deeper part of the woods were home to the Forest Temple, which housed a Fused Shadow. There was also a guardian named Faron who was one of the light spirits. In the game, Faron was an early area infected by Twilight and was just north of Ordon Village, although Link could visit the forest beforehand when searching for the missing Talo. Once Link purified the forest by restoring the light spirit Faron, he was able to enter the Forest Temple to obtain the Fused Shadow. Even after the purification, the power of the twilight acted as a corrupting influence on the area, which is particularly evident in the case of the monkey.
Hidden within the Faron Woods was a second area called the Sacred Grove. This area was much more like the Lost Woods and held the ruins of the Temple of Time. The Master Sword was kept there, and a shard of the Mirror of Twilight wound up within an alternate version of the Temple of Time. The Sacred Grove was notably inhabited by a Skull Kid, and there were living stone statues who acted as guards for the temple. Shad had a notable interest in the area, and at the end of the game he was shown exploring it with Ashei and Auru.
The province's connection to other games is uncertain. The Sacred Grove in Twilight Princess has very strong similarities to the Lost Woods seen in Ocarina of Time, which implies that they may be one and the same, and this also comes with the implication that the Kokiri Forest could be part of Faron.
- The name "Faron" is a play on the name of Farore, one of the three Golden Goddesses who is the Goddess of Courage and usually associated with Link.
