Colin is a young villager of Ordon Village who acts as a supporting character in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Background[edit]

Colin was the young son of Rusl and Uli who lived in Ordon Village. He was a timid child who was afraid of swords. Despite this, he idolized Link and wanted to grow up to be strong like him, although he was more interested in learning horse-riding than swordplay from him. Colin was not close with the other village children, Malo, Talo and Beth, who often teased him.

At the beginning of Twilight Princess, he made a fishing rod under his father's instructions and gave it to Link as a gift. When the other children chased a rogue monkey into the Faron Woods, Colin was the only one who stayed behind and told their parents on them, which led the children to be angry at him later on. When Link and Colin went to visit Ilia, the children blocked their path and force Link to lend them his sword before letting them past. Ilia was initially mad at them due to misunderstanding the whole Talo incident, until Colin cleared it up. However, soon after King Bulblin attacked the village, capturing both Colin and Ilia along with the other village children.

Eventually, the Bulblins left them for dead (with the exception of Ilia, who was taken elsewhere), at which point they are discovered by Renado and Luda, who took them in and protected them from the monsters within Kakariko Village. They were eventually reunited with Link after he liberated the village from the influence of the Twilight Realm. However, soon afterwards King Bulblin attacked the village and Colin wound up being wounded by his beast in order to save Beth by pushing her out of its way. He spent some time recovering in bed and realize the true meaning of strength- that by wanting him to become stronger, his father had intended for him to gain courage rather than simple physical strength. Needless to say, Beth acted much nicer to Colin and offered to make him a special drink made of water mixed from the hot spring and spirit's spring.

As he recovered, he pleaded with Link to help the Gorons and later to find and rescue Ilia, saying that it was thoughts of Link and Ilia that helped to give him strength. Colin also helped to look after Prince Ralis when he recovered at the village as well as Ilia, whom had lost her memory. Rusl apparently visited at one point and could barely recognize Colin due to how much he had changed since being kidnapped from the village. After both Ralis and Ilia recovered, Colin felt that things were going great and encouraged Link to continue helping people in other places as well. He also swore that when he grew up and had a son, he would make sure he grew into a guy who could do anything, like Link.

At the end of the game, all of the children were returned to Ordon Village with the monster threat now minimal. Along the way, Colin was shown to have started wielding a sword and shield as the final stage of his maturity.
