|His Roaring Fists Do the Talking|
|Debut||Pokémon: Gold Version/Pokémon: Silver Version|
Chuck is the gym leader of the Cianwood City gym. He is very committed to his fighting-type Pokémon and, like Bruno, spars with them regularly. At the same time he keeps himself in peak physical condition. He is very loud and likes to boast of his feats of strength. He also has an unnamed wife who lives in Cianwood.
In Gold, Silver and Crystal he is challenged by Gold and first attempts to prove his strength by tossing a boulder with his bare hands, but after Gold reminds him that that has nothing to do with Pokémon, he engages Gold in battle. In HeartGold and SoulSilver he instead meditates under a waterfall and will not notice Gold until the flow of water stops, and once more it is pointed out to Chuck that this training method has nothing to do with Pokémon. After being defeated, he relinquishes the Stormbadge as well as TM01: Dynamicpunch (or Focus Punch in HeartGold/SoulSilver) and promises to train 24 hours a day. This is welcome news to his wife, who thought he was getting flabby. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, he never leaves the gym due to always training, but the player could get his Pokégear number by talking to his wife. Calling Chuck on Wednesday nights (between the hours of 8PM and 4AM) would cause him to travel to Saffron City's Fighting Dojo for a rematch.
In Gold, Silver and Crystal as well as HeartGold and SoulSilver, Chuck has the following Pokémon:
In HeartGold and SoulSilver, he uses the following Pokémon in rematches:
Chuck appears in Pokémon Stadium 2 as the fifth opponent in the Gym Leader's Castle. He uses Sandslash, Primeape, Poliwrath, Machoke, Hitmonchan and Granbull in R1, and Sandslash, Poliwrath, Hypno, Hitmonchan, Ampharos and Ursaring in R2.
- He appeared in an episode of the Pokémon anime which showed him as a bit out-of-shape and moreso showed his wife teasing his flabbiness. In the episode Ash battles and defeats him for the Stormbadge. Later in the series Brawly, a Hoenn gym leader, is revealed to have been a student of Chuck's.
- Chuck appears in several chapters of the Pokémon Adventures manga, where he is revealed to have trained Blue in his youth. He is first seen meeting with his old friend (who appears to be Falkner's father), and they battle Suicune together when it arrives to challenge Chuck. At the gym leader's competition, he is paired against Blue, and Blue successfully defeats him to fulfill the promise he made on the last day of their training.
- He is the only gym leader in HeartGold/SoulSilver who never leaves his gym (except for going to the Fighting Dojo for rematches).
- In Pokémon Stadium 2, all of his Pokémon in both rounds know Dynamicpunch (the move which Chuck gives out the TM of in Gold, Silver and Crystal).
