Camelot Software and Planning is a Japanese game developer. They are best known for their work on Mario Golf and Mario Tennis, as well as their Golden Sun RPG series.

History[edit]

Camelot was originally a division of SEGA. Known as Sonic! Software Planning, they created the Shining Force series. In 1995, they separated from SEGA, but only on the condition that they continue to make Shining Force games for SEGA and not release any game for a rival that might hurt the series. In 1998, Camelot finished making Shining Force III and left for Nintendo.

At Nintendo, they were given the task of making Mario Golf and Mario Tennis. Both were successful and they've continued making them. They have worked on their own Golden Sun series.
