Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is an home design-based video game that was released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2015 and acts as a spin-off of the Animal Crossing series.

Gameplay[edit]

This game departed from the gameplay of the main Animal Crossing games and is instead focused primarily on home design. The player's character is an employee of Nook Homes. The player is assigned to help different characters by designing their homes based on their suggestions, and additional furniture elements can be unlocked as they progress. Players can also visit the homes of characters they've helped in the past.

Happy Home Designer was compatible with Amiibo card from the Animal Crossing series. By scanning them, the characters represented in the cards could appear in the game to visit the houses designed by the player, and the player could also gain chances to design houses for those characters. The cards included prominent characters from the series such as K. K. Slider and Tom Nook himself. The game also featured integration with Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, as houses designed in Happy Home Designer could appear in the latter game.

Legacy[edit]

It was developed at the same time as a party-themed spin-off, Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, which was released in the same year.
