Alakazam is a powerful psychic Pokémon that was introduced in the first generation games as the final stage of Abra's evolutionary line.

Information[edit]

Alakazam evolves from Kadabra when traded to another trainer. It is known primarily for its intelligence. Alakazam is said to be able outperform a super-computer and have an IQ of around 5,000. Its brain cells multiply until its death, which allows it to memorize everything and to remember all past memories since birth. Because its brain continuously grows larger, its head becomes too heavy for its neck to support, so it has to use its psychokinetic powers to hold up its head.

Its senses are heightened even more when its eyes are closed, allowing it to use its abilities to their extremes. Alakazam does not like using physical attacks as its muscles are actually very weak. Because of this, they depend on their psychic abilities for everything, even for just moving their bodies. Even the spoons that they dual wield are said to be formed by their psychic powers.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

Alakazam has not been found in the wild and can only be obtained through evolving Kadabra in all of the color versions.

Other Games[edit]

Alakazam could only be obtained through evolving Kadabra in Pokémon Pinball, Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams. Alakazam appeared as one of Sabrina's Pokémon in Pokémon Puzzle League. In Mystery Dungeon a non-playable Alakazam also appears as the leader of the Gold Rank Team A.C.T.. In Pokémon Trozei!, Alakazam appeared at Endless Level 81, Pair Trozei and Mr. Who's Den.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Alakazam was found on the tenth through twentieth floors of Treeshroud Forest. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it appeared at Altru Tower. Alakazam also appeared in Pokémon Rumble at Eternal Tower.

Other Appearances=[edit]

Other Media[edit]

Normal Alakazam have shown up in later episodes in the possession of trainers such as Eusine and Anabel. Ash also battled an Alazakam during a double gym battle in the Orange Islands season.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Sabrina has an Alakazam that she occasionally used in battle as well as to produce Spoons of Destiny. Blue also caught an Alakazam in the Gold/Silver/Crystal arc and wound up leaving it at the gym as part of his his home team that took on challengers while he was away.
