Chapter 12:
Toad Meets Blurp
-Masamune-
"Tooooaaddd!!!!" The young mushroom girl
cried in horror as the huge bloop juped up and swallowed
Toad whole and quickly jumped back in the water.
"He's... gone..." A elderly mushroom
mumbles slowly, "He was the best member of the
mushroom council I had ever seen in all my years..."
"It may not be too late" One of the
muchroom people chirped in, "Turns out I DID bring
my Bazooka this time!"
They all looked at him in suprise, the elderly one
looked over, "How much ammo do you have?"
"One shot... so we gotta lure him up here and
get it as soon as it comes" The mushroom answered.
They all looked amongst themselves silently, finally
the young girl from before stepped forward, "I'll do
it for Toad..." She said softly.
She was instructed to stand at the edge, around her
waist was a rope that was being held by the other
mushrooms to pull her out. Now they waited, it happened
soon, the bloop jumped up to swallow her, but they pulled
her out before they could. The young mushroom man fired
the bazooka and hit the bloop on it's forehead killing it.
They all quickly took on the nasty task of ripping
the fish apart to get Toad out before it was to late...
-lzn64-
The fish lay on the sand, towering over the short
mushroom people. The mushrooms stood for a minute, gaping
in awe at the mere size of the Blurp. The Bazooka-weilder
looked in utter amazement at the others, his eyes wide.
"Did you guys see that shot?" he asked,
breaking the silence.
"Forget your shot," The girl who had been
used as bait cried, "We have to get Toad outta there
before he suffocates!"
Apparantly, the other mushrooms felt the same way,
because they crowded around the humungous fish, each of
them shouting out their own ideas as to where they should
cut first.
"He's obviously in the stomach, right here!"
One man yelled, pointing.
"Are you crazy? That's not a stomach!"
"Well, what is it then?"
"That's the bladder?"
"Well, excuse me, Miss Biology!"
"Hmph!"
One of the elder mushrooms, who was also a member of
the royal mushroom council, managed to make his voice
rise over the tumult.
"Please, please, this squabbling will get us
nowhere! We must go about this very carefully, but
quickly, as we are rapidly running out of time!"
His words calmed the crowd noticably, and they all
turned to face him, occasionally glancing uneasily at the
mountain of blurp behind them. The elder ordered one of
the men to cut the underbelly of the fish, in the hopes
of severing its stomach and letting Toad out. The
mushroom was boosted up by the others, weilding a long
knife that had been taken out of the castle along with
their supplies.
He took a deep breath, and cut the fish open. I will
not describe what happened next, but let it suffice to
say that any mushroom near the underbelly of the blurp
took a bath afterward. Including Toad, who tumbled out
after a couple tense minutes, and smelled so bad that not
even the young mushroom girl dared to come near until he
was washed.
And wash they did, but after the business was done,
they were no better off than they had started. They were
stranded still, and had no means of getting off the mini
island. They were just beginning to lose hope, when
suddenly, Toad had a brilliant idea.
"These trees!" he yelled, jumping up.
"We can use these trees to build a raft!"
"And be lost at sea again?" One mushroom
inquired, a smug look on his face.
"We'll just stay close to this chain of islands.
We're in Giant Land, and the capital city was built on a
higher hill than this. I'm sure of it!"
"But we could end up heading in the wrong
direction!"
"At least we'll be heading somewhere!" Toad
countered, and with that statement the argument was won.
The mushrooms all roused and began the tiresome work
of creating a raft large enough to hold them all, in the
hopes of finding the Capital city of giant land.
"After all," The mushroom girl said
brightly, as she worked beside Toad, "It's giant,
right? It shouldn't be too hard to find."
-Masamune-
Captain's Log...
I, Toad, as it seems have become the captain aboard this
vessel of driftwood and floating junk. The bloop has
managed to supply our rations enough so that we can
survive one more week on rations. With the aid of a
compass we are heading west, hoping that we may come in
contact with Giant Palace. Travel is slow, with barely no
wind at all to carry our ill-made sails, we have taken up
rowing duties that rotate to keep everyone in healthy
condition. Unfortunately morale is dropping, after being
out to sea now for five days. We hope that we may soon
reach land... If we do, tis log shall never be read... if
not it will be a simple recording of our struggle... To
anyone who may find this... Take this to the decendants
of the Mario's or of the Royal Mushroom Family.
Sincerely,
Kinopio 'Toad' T.
With a sigh, Toad closed the log and put it in the
sealed box. After doing that, he got to his feet and
climbed up the midle sail to look around. Again their was
nothing, they had to find it... time was running thin...
Meanwhile...
in the now-deserted Bowser's Castle, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi,
Geno, Mallow, Jinx and Peach had finished retelling their
plight. Now that they were all up to date with what had
happened, they needed to make the decision on what do now.
"Wart is gone, so we have Bowser and Kamek to
worry about now, right?" Luigi questioned.
"And the koopa kids I beleive, Ludwig was
piloting the Clown-Copter" Peach added.
"So, excluding all of their troops, we have nine
koopas to deal with and only seven of us to do it"
Geno added.
"We could get help from my parents kingdom and
any of the surviving mushroom villages to help"
Mallow suggested.
"It's to much time" Mario mumbled, "We've
used up enough time already... if Bowser finishes
whatever he is doing..."
"Then let us split up" Jinx replied, "The
rest of you move on into the 'Dark Land', I shall try and
rally as much help as possible. I can go through much
faster than any of you..."
