Chapter 6: Dare to Dreamland

"Wow, it's been a long time since either of us
have been in here." said Luigi. Yoshi was looking
around nervously at the darkness. "Oh, Yoshi I
forgot, you never came with us in the Dream World. Things
are a bit different around here."
Yoshi looked around. The house wasn't there anymore.
There was no sun, no moon, and hardly any light to see
anything further than a few feet. Strange looking plants
dotted the landscape and waved at their feet. Creatures
were busy walking around, bumping into walls, and going
off in the opposite direction. A large red bird, an
Albotoss, flew just a few inches above them and fluttered
off into the darkness.
"Really. I haven't noticed." Yoshi said
sarcastically. This particular Yoshi has spent a lot of
time around humans, so he learned to use their different
levels of language.
"Okay, besides the obvious, we can't use our
fire flowers here among other things. But we were very
resourceful and took to throwing conveniently large
vegetables at our enemies." Madio added. He tugged
at a large plant growing out of the ground. After a
second, the large coin came out and disappeared above his
head. "Oh, that's right, in the 'Dark' dimension,
coins replace the plant roots. Okay, let's go and find a
shortcut. Maybe we can find a warp vase or catch a flying
carpet."
Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi venture off into the darkness.
Yoshi looks around apprehensively, as if the entire
landscape was watching him, and in this world, the
landscape does watch you.
Back in the real world,
the citizens of Rose Town were relieved that the danger
of flooding was over, as the sewer was fuctioning again.
Gaz, a little mushroom boy was braving the storm, looking
for his lost 'action figure' (he hated it when he was
said to be playing with 'dolls'). he went inside his
house for a brief reprieve from the storm.
"Mom! You sure you didn't see him?" Gaz
asked.
"Sorry. But, hey, once Mario comes and squashes
Bowser again, we'll just get a new doll!" Gaz's
mother replied.
"MOM! First of all, it's not a doll! Second,
he's Geno! He's one of a kind. One Of A Kind. You can't
just replace him, he saved the world, remember?"
"Oh yes. You even came to the trouble of getting
someone in a Geno outfit to say 'I'm off to save the
world!'. Ha ha..."
Gaz sighed. He knew his mom wouldn't believe his
stories, not after the infamous 'lamp incident', as she
called it. "Mom, just promise you'll keep an eye out
for him, okay?"
"Mm-hmm." Gaz's mother sounded. "Don't
worry, I'm sure he'll turn up somewhere..."

Mario suddenly stopped, causing Yoshi and Luigi to
stop behind him.
"What's wrong?" Luigi asked.
"It's just like before... we can't go any
further" Mario said, tapping on a invisible barrier.
"That's right..." Luigi said "And
unless we find some sort of warp pipe or warp vase, we'll
teleport back to where we were"
"How 'bout here?" Yoshi asked, indicating a
small vase, which bottom was wedge in the ground.
"Worth a try" Mario answered, and quickly
jumped in, Luigi and Yoshi followed suit.
Meanwhile, at the Mushroom Kingdom, things had only
gotten worse now (unlike in Rose Town). The flood waters
were rapidly rising and the valiant mushroom people could
do little to stop it. After Toad informed Peach of thise,
she ordered all of them to come to the castle and get on
the highest floor possible.
They soon had piled in, and were given only little
room, soon after the flood barriers burst open, allowing
the water to pour in, destroying the lower section of the
castle, and was slowly creeping to the second floor.
Geno had made huge process since he had left, and
shortly arrived in Monstro Town, where he was spotted by
Jinx, and upon hearing the situation. Hastily joined Geno
(since Jagger had long left training) and the worked
towards Nimbus Kingdom, so they could use the Cloud Bus
to get to Bowser's Kingdom quickly and easily.

Mario, Luigi and Yoshi were violently expelled from
the vase after a few minutes of speeding through a
strange void with flashing colorful lights. As they hit
the ground, they were first aware of how cold it was.
Then they realized that they were sitting on a ground
frozen over with a large amount of ice. The three hopped
up and looked around in dismay.
"Well, I was sort of hoping that I wouldn't have
to see this place again..." Mario muttered.
"Where exactly IS this?" Yoshi asked,
watching with interest as his breath froze, turned white,
and faded away in the cold air.
"This is the Ice Land of Sub-Con." Luigi
informed him. "better known as World 4." Yoshi
was about to make a pessimistic reply, but was
interrupted by a loud buzzing sound.
"Hey, that sounds like-"
"Beezos!" Luigi yelled, pointing at the
large swarm headed toward them. Without any further
discussion, the trio ran, or rather, slid, on the
slippery ice, trying to escape the onslaught. The beezos
dove at them, and either they weren't concentrating very
hard, or our heroes were very lucky, because they weren't
able to connect to their targets.
Out of breath, Mario pointed at a door that they were
approaching very rapidly. Yoshi managed to slide into it,
fumble for the doorknob, open it, and get shoved inside
by a very frantic Mario and Luigi. Mario was the last one
in, and he slammed the door behind him. There was a sound
of angry buzzing, but eventually that faded away. They
didn't dare leave their sanctuary, though, and so they
turned toward the absolute blackness, determined to find
their way through.
