[23:13:45] nintfjr: on a bit of a different subject [23:13:47] nintfjr: you know, if Kinect doesn't do anything for Microsoft with the X-Box, I think it's gonna land them a place in Robotics. [23:13:55] McCloaker: Fine, fine [23:14:01] McCloaker: *puts away soapbox* [23:14:02] nintfjr: I don't think it really has a place in video games. [23:14:03] McCloaker: You're right [23:14:10] McCloaker: You're absoultely right on the Kinect [23:14:14] nintfjr: but it certainly has a practical application in eyes for robots [23:14:57] McCloaker: I predicted this when it first came out and it tickles me pink to see that I'm right - that system is impossible to design for, but the technology itself is comically mis-used. This technology instead makes for some awesome teaching tools, nanobot and remote-controlled tool usage [23:15:36] McCloaker: Tech that follows any and all movements and reproduces them? You can't make entertainment with that, but you can make everything from surgery simulators to microscopic, precision medical equipment [23:16:04] nintfjr: or autonomous cars, soilders, general robots [23:16:23] McCloaker: This is like inventing something that instantly cures drug addiction painlessly and using it to help people give up eating Snickers bars [23:16:46] nintfjr: I knwo a sure fire way to help people give up eating snickers bars [23:16:49] nintfjr: tell them what's in it [23:17:14] nintfjr: It really boggles me that Microsoft didn't notice this when they were gutting Rare [23:17:46] nintfjr: "You know what, you assholes can MAKE Banjo-Threeie, we're going to sell this shit to all sorts of different people [23:18:41] McCloaker: Man, you know how much money someone would make if they invented something that basically cut your brain off of any chemical addiction? [23:19:02] McCloaker: No more long, painful rehab off of heroin, or LSD or cocaine or even cigarettes [23:19:03] nintfjr: a bunch? [23:19:05] McCloaker: Just - poof, you're clean [23:19:12] nintfjr: you knwo what you could do? [23:19:15] McCloaker: what [23:19:20] nintfjr: you could administer it before they did the drugs [23:19:26] nintfjr: and they wouldn't have any effect [23:19:49] nintfjr: you could make not only chemical dependency a thing of the past, but the desire to actually use it [23:19:57] McCloaker: That'd be amazing [23:20:04] nintfjr: Course it might cause something horrible like interfering with dopamine uptake [23:20:12] nintfjr: which would keep people from having any sort of pleasure at all [23:20:13] nintfjr: but hey [23:20:16] nintfjr: progress is progress [23:20:36] McCloaker: LOL [23:20:38] McCloaker: that'd be hilarious
