I only watched the pilot. Seemed pretty good aside from the obvious Wolverine Publicity, although I mostly like hearing Spike Spegal's voice

On a mildly related note, I started re-watching the '90s X-Men cartoon. The jury's still out on whether I still like it. That was some cheesy, cheesy voice acting.

I like it, because my momma used to watch it with me and Flutter when we were little. Mom's the one who got me into nerd stuff. Videogames, Comicbooks, you name it.

Good news. The (s)crappy replacement series? Paul Dini is on board.

Yeah Paul Dini ALMOST makes up for it. So now I'm like I'm like "Eh, alright, I'll give it a shot.". Now if Spectacular was still going and it was announced that Paul Dini was coming to the team I would die...my heart could not take THAT much good at once... Dini said he wants to redefine Peter Parker and not do Lee/Ditko or Lee/Romita Sr type stuff, so that worries me.

Paul Dini wrote:
You also don't want to repeat the same old tropes. As much as I love elements of Spider-Man's past, I don't really want to go back in and retell the Gwen Stacy and Green Goblin story in animation just so I can do my take on it. I don't want to redo the first Spider Slayer story. I don't want to redo some of those classic Lee/Romita and Lee/Ditka stories just for the sake of seeing them rendered in animation. For now, I just want to approach Spider-Man with fresh eyes, taking a few things we know about him and just doing a new spin on the concept. I think old-time fans will find what we've done with the character to be pretty good and thoughtful, because we're not out to junk-up Spider-Man. That's not our intent.

Hopefully this new show is GOOD...although part of me wants it to fail to send a message to Disney.

Unfortunately corporations tend to take messages the wrong way. Which would be, "Marvel is not a viable property for animated cartoons. Let's not do them anymore."

Yeah, corporations have a very strong tendency to assume that quality is not a factor in anyone's decision to watch anything. Of course, considering the success of reality shows, maybe they have a point.

It does kinda annoy me that Dini almost sounds like he's dissing Spectacular there. I've grown a bit disillusioned with his writing after partially following his comics writing the past few years, but I'll give him benefit of the doubt now that he's back in his natural element.

Also, if you're looking for Greg Weismann, he's at the also in development (and surprisingly good looking) Young Justice series (but that's another topic for another time... another time being whenever me or anyone feels un-lazy enough to start a topic)
