Cheesetrooper 2 (6:43:26 PM): MWNP isn't an RPG
Cheesetrooper 2 (6:43:29 PM): It's a WarioWare game
Thekir ByofDeath (6:43:37 PM): heh
Cheesetrooper 2 (6:43:39 PM): KoD has a Punchout game
Thekir ByofDeath (6:44:01 PM): "Press A repeatedly to sacrifice yourself!"
Cheesetrooper 2 (6:44:10 PM): XD
Cheesetrooper 2 (6:44:12 PM): Holy crap
Cheesetrooper 2 (6:44:20 PM): It's such a simple idea to execute, too
Thekir ByofDeath (6:44:28 PM): thats essentially what happened >.>
Cheesetrooper 2 (6:44:29 PM): I might start on that next time I get the chance
Cheesetrooper 2 (6:44:40 PM): New OGers Forum topic
Thekir ByofDeath (6:44:50 PM): KoD kept pressing A and then went skyward and did down, down-foward, forward HP
Thekir ByofDeath (6:44:55 PM): to unleash crash wave
Thekir ByofDeath (6:44:59 PM): or no no no no
Thekir ByofDeath (6:45:16 PM): back, down back, down, down forward, forward, HP
Thekir ByofDeath (6:45:22 PM): there we go

So, you get the idea. I think it'd be cool if we could take the EG series, starting with IT, and converted them into WarioWare stories. Instead of selecting a character, like Wario, Mona, Jimmy, etc., you'd select an OG and follow its story through a series of minigames.

I guess I'm doing all the technical stuffs, unless someone else can use Game Maker. If someone wants to make this into a Flash game or, heaven forbid, can actually program in a real language, go ahead. I have no confidence in my ability to finish this project; I think it'd just be fun to consider it. Whatever art and music we make for it would just be cool to have around, even if it doesn't get put in a game.

This doesn't have to just be EG stories, either. We could do Loopholes like this, WarioFan Mind Control, Harvest Goers, or any number of stories.

For example, if we did Loophole 1, the first minigame would be like "Press A when you've found the Loophole!" And you'd have a magnifying glass moving left and right on the screen, then you'd press A once the word "Loophole" was in the magnifying glass. Hopefully you all can come up with funnier minigames than I.

Oh wow, I didn't know it was gonna encompass one more than OG. This sounds like the best idea ever. Like... I'm being serious >.> If you can somehow engineer that, I might actually give you money.

So I've started thinking about what minigames could be made. If anyone could help out with graphics or music, that'd be muchly appreciated. The game screen size will be 640 x 480 pixels.
Animations should be simple. For example, in Eat GORE!, the GORE punching animation could just be one frame of GORE's fist punching Yami's stomach. This shouldn't be time consuming, but it should be eye-catching.

-Check what's in the fridge!
Yami Yoshi has a grip on the fridge handle and must open it. Press Z to open it. (Yami Yoshi grimaces as if he is struggling to open it, then horror overtakes his face as he sees inside the fridge. In other words, Yami's face itself needs only two frames of animation: struggle and horror.)

-Draw a V!
(Go to the Vorpomobile!)
Yami Yoshi and Vorpal stand in Yami Yoshi's kitchen. A large V is in front of them, and the user must trace the V using his/her mouse.

(I was considering making a "Roll your eyes!" minigame with Yami or a "Program the ultimate warrior in the universe!" minigame with Golem, but those both seemed too similar to this drawing one. In addition, that's like three minigames from the span of two posts. The roll your eyes one would have the user point the mouse at one of Yami's pupils and spin it in a circle in his eye, and the second one would give the user a view of a bunch of wires. The user would drag the mouse from one highlighted wire to another highlighted wire. I guess that second minigame might be too much for the user to figure out, actually, given the time span. I'd need to find a succinct way to explain it.)

-Aim the Dark Egg!
Side view. Yami Yoshi holds an egg (like so) on the left side of the screen and Golem panics on the right side. They're both on a city sidewalk. I don't know how Golem would look in specific; any goofy and funny expression/pose will do. Halfway between the two is a Yoshi's Island style cursor. When the timer for the minigame runs out, Yami throws the egg through the cursor, and if the egg hits Golem, the user passes the minigame; if the egg does not hit, the user fails.

-Eat GORE!
GORE and Yami floating in midair in the woods. Their heads should be at opposite ends of the screen and take up about 1/4 of the screen's height. Yami moves up and down, and when the user presses Z, he lunges forward. If correctly timed, Yami stuffs GORE's head in his mouth (possibly GORE freaks out). If falsely timed, GORE punches Yami.

-Catch the portal!
Lupus is in a city. He runs towards a portal (which is a blue and black oval, I guess). The user must press Z then M in rapid succession; Z moves his right leg forward and M moves his left leg forward. Any point of view would work, and though being creative would be best, a side view is definitely acceptible (and I suppose a side view might be preferable if it's faster than doing another view). If the user presses Z and M enough, Lupus catches the portal. If the user presses Z then Z or M then M, Lupus falls down; the user must press Z, M, Z, M, etc.

That's five minigames for GMOG1 part 1, pretty good. I hope to get 20 minigames total for GMOG1. I think I can count on maybe 2 or 3 minigames for part 5, since that's short, isn't it?

I want this to happen. However, I can provide no help since I lack talents.

Although I can program in real languages, my ability to program with visual effects is limited to Visual Basic, and that's not a real language in my books.

Game Maker's probably the best choice anyways.

I'll try making some graphics if you want, and if any minigames come to mind I'll post em'. I would doubt this could be done if Golem wasn't already somewhat familiar with making freeware games in the first place. Good luck!

Updated the minigame post. The planning for GMOG1 page 1 is done.

Glad to hear, all. :) This project will be ours more than it is mine--the only control I truly have is over the programming. I'm posting minigame ideas just to prime the pump and get peeps involved.

Jed - if this were an anime, that would mean the world. Still, it's good to know that it's an appreciated idea; having motivation is always important.

Fred - Why does your name rhyme with "Jed"? I can only do visuals in Javascript and Java, but not easily enough. (I'm taking Computer Graphics in the fall, so that should change within 2009.) Here, I'm going to rely on Game Maker yet again.

Retro - Awesometastic, just what I wanted to hear. Any graphics you can volunteer will be appreciated--and that goes for everyone. I'm counting myself the last resort in that respect. If no one else makes the graphics for a certain minigame, I'll do 'em, but I'd rather let other folks handle that.

Another thing that goes for everyone: any minigame ideas for any OGs are welcome. I want to try to keep it to 20 minigames per OG, though.

Regarding minigame ideas:
-Try to be as specific as possible. Try not to leave anything that graphic artists or programmers would have to guess about.
-Almost any keyboard keys or mouse movements are game. The mouse wheel can't be used (simply because it's not universal). I am uncertain, but I believe I can only follow the cursor when a mouse button (either right or left) is clicked.
-Make them the OG highlights, and make them funny.
-Admittedly, there's only so much you can do in a 5-second minigame, but try to be creative about the gameplay.

UPDATETIME THREE:
If you are in the mood for downloading EXEs, you can see what's done so far here:
http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/81786
It's far from exciting, you just get to see how the menu and microgame screens interact. Press Enter on the first screen.

UPDATETIME

Nothing much, but I figured I'd take a video capture of how the Yami minigame plays out. It'll be preceeded by a screen that says "Open the fridge! Press Z rapidly!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nUVpvPuXT0

UPDATETIME TWO

The framework of the game is done--all that's needed now is microgames. If no one else feels like participating, I'm going to let this gather dust. I might return to it every now and then and add a microgame, but I'm just satisfied to have this done. If anyone does feel like drawing out a microgame, it'll be a cinch to put the new microgame in.

There's no title screen--right now, that's completely blank. Also, the pre-microgame screen should have a background, I guess.
Here's the setup screen:
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b260/ ... screen.png
And here's the pre-microgame screen:
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b260/ ... screen.png
(Those red guys at the bottom are your lives. Bad the Button lives. :))
Both of those screens have some animation in-game that can't be expressed by a single screen cap.

And now, a picture of Vorpal hosting the retelling of GMOG1:
