*Present day North Carolina. With a huge thunderstorm taking place outside, two couples, Marc and Hannah Coldsmith and Dolly and Klaus Evans, were sitting in a house watching the television.*
Television: It’s fourth and long and the game comes down to this play…if they get the touchdown, they get the win!
Dolly: Klaus! I don’t understand this.
Klaus: Why not?
Dolly: It’s fourth down. They aren’t punting.
Klaus: It’s the last play of the game. They need to score.
Dolly: But they’re on the other end of the field.
Marc: They’re going to throw a long pass down the field. It’s their only hope.
Dolly: ….What if they all get on each other’s shoulders and give the ball to the guy on top?
Klaus: They aren’t doing that Dolly.
Dolly: They should…
Marc: Here they go!
Television: They snap the ball back...Graves drops back into the pocket, scans the- BEEP BEEP! *The game cuts out, and brings up a “Severe Thunderstorm Warning”*
Klaus: What the hell is going on?!
Hannah: It’s a flash flood warning.
Klaus: Oh like I can’t see that?!
Dolly: But you were asking a question, so maybe you didn’t see it, and she
was just trying to be helpful?
Klaus: It doesn’t matter! If they waited ten seconds to put the warning up, no one would get killed.
Dolly: What if someone did?
Klaus: They wouldn’t!
Dolly: But what if they did?
Klaus: They wouldn’t! *The TV goes back to the game*
Marc: Shh!
Television Announcer: OH MY GOODNESS! THAT PLAY WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY! WHAT A PASS! WHAT A CATCH! *Marc, Hannah, and Dolly start to celebrate*
Marc: Victory!
Dolly: Are you happy now Klaus?
Klaus: No! We missed the freakin’ play!
Television Announcer: Let’s take a look at this folks. Instant replay! You see here, Graves gets the ball, and drops back into the pocket. Now stop the footage here.
Klaus: Don’t stop it! Just show it!
Television Announcer: Here you see Graves scanning the field. He’s looking for the open man. And then this happens! Start the footage again! *Just as the footage starts up, all the power goes out in the house, leaving
all four in darkness*
Dolly: What happened?
Marc: You don’t think the gameplan was to MAKE the stadium lights go out, do you?
Hannah: No…it was probably just a lightning strike or a car hitting a telephone pole. It’s pretty bad out there. *Hannah got up and left the room. She quickly came back, with a lit candle. Marc and Dolly were both still sitting on the couch, and Klaus had his head buried in his hands*
Dolly: Klaus! Klaus! Are you ok?! Did the lightning hit you?!
Klaus: …..Why? Why? I just wanted to see the end of the game.
Hannah: Atleast you know the outcome.
Klaus: I don’t care! I wanted to see the play dang it!
Marc: If it’s as impressive as they said, it should be on highlight reels for years to come.
Klaus: It’s not the same. It’s all because of this stupid weather, this stupid thunderstorm, and this stupid lightning. I hate this WEATHER! *At that point, there was a bright flash, a loud rumble, lots of shaking, a tad bit of screaming, and then silence. The four of them looked around, and they were now in a shack, with old tools hanging around and sunlight peeking through the boards*
Marc: …….I think I can say that I am quite positive that God has just smote us.
Hannah: Hold up…what just happened?
Marc: We’re dead.
Hannah: I don’t think so.
Dolly: I’m scared.
Marc: Don’t be, Heaven is supposed to be cool.
Dolly: What if we’re in Hell?
Marc: …That would be extremely……upsetting.
Klaus: We aren’t going to find anything out in here. *Klaus went over to
the shack’s door. The four stepped outside, and stretching ahead of them was mountains and desert*
Marc: Dudes…I think we’re in Kansas.
Hannah: Kansas is flat. This looks more like Arizona.
Marc: Oh…
Klaus: Look, there’s looks to be a town ahead. Let’s just go up, check it out, and find out exactly what happened. *They headed toward the buildings, traveling across the desert and sweating from the heat. As they arrived, the town was relatively empty except for some horses tied up outside some buildings.*
Hannah: It’s a ghost town…
Dolly: Ghost are scary.
Man: Who goes there?! *A man stepped out from the side of a building, pointing a gun at the four.*
Klaus: I’m Klaus, this is Dolly, those two are Marc and Hannah.
Man: I don’t want your names. I want to know who you are.
Klaus: ….What?
Man: Tell me!
Klaus: Um! I’m…I….uhh..*Klaus looked around frantically* Hannah! She was a cop once! You shoot her, you’ll be in trouble!
Man: I’m the Sheriff in these parts. I’m Sheriff Mason, and I think you four are some mighty strange folk.
Hannah: How are we strange?
Mason: Look at yourselves. What in tarnations are you folks wearing?
Klaus: Well you know…t-shirts…jeans...coats…sneakers…I’m wearing a football jersey.
Mason: Football?
Klaus: Yeah. You know, football, the sport?
Mason: …
Klaus: Maybe you call it “Tossing the pigskin”? *Mason pointed the gun at the head of Klaus*
Mason: You the pig thieves?!
Klaus: Sir, we never stole a pig in our lives.
Marc: No, can’t interceptions count as stealing?
Klaus: Shut up! Listen, Sheriff Mason, we’re from North Carolina. We were at our house, and then I think a lightning bolt hit it, and the next thing we know, we’re in that shack back there. Where are we?
Mason: Cainer. Cainer, Arizona.
Marc: Good call Hannah.
Mason: So…you folks saying you been kidnapped?
Klaus: …Maaaybe.
Dolly: We were kidnapped?!
Klaus: Quiet Dolly.
Mason: Listen, I don’t know if I can trust y’all. But if there’s a kidnapper, then I’ll try and find him. Come with me to my office. I’ll try and help you folks, but I’m still going to keep an eye on you. *Mason led them into a building*
Klaus: Thank you for helping us.
Marc: This looks more like a jail...
Mason: Darn right it is! Now get in there!
Hannah: We didn't do anything!
Mason: I could tell you folks are trouble! Now get in that cell! *He raised the gun again* You people think I'm dumb? You can't even get your stories straight!
Klaus: *Sighs* Come on guys...let's get in.
Dolly: Wait! Mr. Sheriff Mason sir...
Mason: What?
Dolly: Your bootlaces are untied.
Mason: They are? *Looks down* I could have sworn I just-*Klaus stole Mason's gun, Marck knocked him down, and the four ran out of the building*
Hannah: That wasn't smart!
Klaus: Just run! *The four were back outside, and they ran to some horses. Some other towns people were now looking out windows at the scene that was unfolding*
Mason: Get back here!
Klaus: Up! Up! Up! *They all got on the horses, and untied them, and took off. Mason tried to chase them on foot for a bit, but stopped*
Mason: You folks won't get away with this!
Marc: Yeehaw! See ya later Mason!
