I've probably showed all of y'all what frequent here, but it doesn't hurt to have a topic does it? No? I'm wrong?

I'm doing the writing; Toby's doing the art. Do I need to explain? Anyway, I'm about two scripts in, we're working on finalizing most character designs right now.

We have a site, http://the-toadman.deviantart.com We'll have an actual site closer to production. Also, does anyone know how to start a business? Because we need to get On-Going Comics started.

So, what are your guys' plans? Is this going to eventually be a webcomic?

yeah, pretty much. Updated every day with a new page, if that's tenable. Try and make money through ads and begging, then, of course, merchandise when we can afford to make it, and if there's a big enough interest in it.

A page a day is quite a lot, not only to produce, but also to consume. It also sets you up for a disappointed audience if you fall behind.

My suggestion would be to have a 2 or 3-a-week schedule at most, and try to build up a backlog. If the backlog ever becomes too big, then you could consider going more.

I think that works especially if it's going to be given in page format. Most page-long format comics I've seen on the web that last for any period of time are usually on 1,2, or 3-a-week schedules.

Though, that's just my two cents. Hate to see you guys burn out is all.

Yeah, 2-3 per week seems typical. The most important thing is consistency in your update schedule. For any website, it's key for viewers to know when to expect new content. If it seems random, they'll come randomly. If they know 2 pm on Thursday is a new comic, they'll check every 2 pm on Thursday. I can understand the appeal of having a lot of content up quickly, too, since starting up a webcomic is the hardest part. Maybe build up 30 pages, and post one per day for a month to build an archive, then slow it down? (Just a random thought that came out this moment. It's...probably safe to disregard any advice I give on monetizing creative pursuits.)

Anyway, the character designs look good.

We're gonna build up a backlog first, so that we have updates going up automatically, and set to go up months ahead of time. And I mean a huge backlog, half a year at least.

Not that I don't understand your concerns, but the more often we update the more often people will visit. I'd like to update as often as possible so we can get as close to a monthly comic as possible. If we're a little slow on the get go, that's fine, I suppose. Eventually we'd like to expand, get in more artists and writers, so that we have something every day. Once a week is way too slow for pacing, Three times a week is, as far as I'm concerned, still damn slow, considering a fully contained story is going to be around 30 pages. If we're doing a full page black and white comic, we can get our 28 page issues out once a month, so long as we build up a respectable backlog.

EDIT: I don't know anything about physical publication, though I imagine we'll look into that as soon as we can afford it. Color comics will be available for purchase because we're capitalists.

EDIT 2: Issue 1's first draft is complete. Apparently it's good, and better than the last issue I wrote in terms of being a first issue. the last issue was fine, it just wasn't a first issue.

Nevermind, the project is on hiatus. I don't want to air anyone's dirty laundry, so I'm not going to say why. We'll be back, I'm sure of it.

So I'm looking through my writing so far and a thing I've noticed predominantly is really abrupt or sudden transitions, which I think is a good thing. Actually since I like you all so much if anyone wants to read one or two and a half of the two and a half scripts i have written so far, I'll be happy to oblige, I'm interested in what you think.

I've also got outlines for 2 issues and half of two others, still working on those.

Yeah, I'm finishing up a second degree first though. Looks like I might can do the backgrounds myself because I'm not terrible at them. At this point I'm waiting until I can move closer in order to collaborate in person, because this being a pretty visual medium, kind of requires us to both be seeing what's going on. Have outlines for the first 7 issues, and between class and work, I'm working on finishing up the first two scripts and writing a couple of others.

I'd go into more detail, but I don't want to bore ya. Incidentally, check out the Golem page on the OG Wiki if you haven't lately.

Here's some preliminary Background sketches:

I've got some others, I don't know where they are, shrack it.
