So I've started thinking about what minigames could be made. If anyone could help out with graphics or music, that'd be muchly appreciated. The game screen size will be 640 x 480 pixels.
Animations should be simple. For example, in Eat GORE!, the GORE punching animation could just be one frame of GORE's fist punching Yami's stomach. This shouldn't be time consuming, but it should be eye-catching.
-Check what's in the fridge!
Yami Yoshi has a grip on the fridge handle and must open it. Press Z to open it. (Yami Yoshi grimaces as if he is struggling to open it, then horror overtakes his face as he sees inside the fridge. In other words, Yami's face itself needs only two frames of animation: struggle and horror.)
-Draw a V!
(Go to the Vorpomobile!)
Yami Yoshi and Vorpal stand in Yami Yoshi's kitchen. A large V is in front of them, and the user must trace the V using his/her mouse.
(I was considering making a "Roll your eyes!" minigame with Yami or a "Program the ultimate warrior in the universe!" minigame with Golem, but those both seemed too similar to this drawing one. In addition, that's like three minigames from the span of two posts. The roll your eyes one would have the user point the mouse at one of Yami's pupils and spin it in a circle in his eye, and the second one would give the user a view of a bunch of wires. The user would drag the mouse from one highlighted wire to another highlighted wire. I guess that second minigame might be too much for the user to figure out, actually, given the time span. I'd need to find a succinct way to explain it.)
-Aim the Dark Egg!
Side view. Yami Yoshi holds an egg (
like so) on the left side of the screen and Golem panics on the right side. They're both on a city sidewalk. I don't know how Golem would look in specific; any goofy and funny expression/pose will do. Halfway between the two is a Yoshi's Island style cursor. When the timer for the minigame runs out, Yami throws the egg through the cursor, and if the egg hits Golem, the user passes the minigame; if the egg does not hit, the user fails.
-Eat GORE!
GORE and Yami floating in midair in the woods. Their heads should be at opposite ends of the screen and take up about 1/4 of the screen's height. Yami moves up and down, and when the user presses Z, he lunges forward. If correctly timed, Yami stuffs GORE's head in his mouth (possibly GORE freaks out). If falsely timed, GORE punches Yami.
-Catch the portal!
Lupus is in a city. He runs towards a portal (which is a blue and black oval, I guess). The user must press Z then M in rapid succession; Z moves his right leg forward and M moves his left leg forward. Any point of view would work, and though being creative would be best, a side view is definitely acceptible (and I suppose a side view might be preferable if it's faster than doing another view). If the user presses Z and M enough, Lupus catches the portal. If the user presses Z then Z or M then M, Lupus falls down; the user must press Z, M, Z, M, etc.
That's five minigames for GMOG1 part 1, pretty good. I hope to get 20 minigames total for GMOG1. I think I can count on maybe 2 or 3 minigames for part 5, since that's short, isn't it?
